What a relief to finally get this front glued back on today. When we estimate 3-5 hours to remove and replace a front and then find there is hardly any gluing surface to speak off.
I try to avoid half-edging whenever possible and glue patches or shavings along the gluing surface with minimal removal of the original wood.
Not one of my favourite tasks in violin restoration!
