EXPERT RESTORATIONS

Most of my time in the workshop is dedicated to major restorations of violins, violas and cellos. These are mainly complex and long term projects of which I usually have 2 – 3 on the go at any one time.

A standard restoration would include taking the front and the back off the ribstructure to deal with cracks, making plaster casts to help with patches, a neckgraft, pegbushes, new set-up etc. I take particular care in the texture and retouching of the instrument once all the woodwork is completed.

Once I have had a thorough look at an instrument, I provide a quote for the full restoration. During the restoration, I keep the owner up to date on the progress of the work undertaken on a monthly basis.
