C-edge and Corner Reconstruction

Happy New Year!

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2024!
Today, I finally got to finish the retouching on the neckgraft I had posted about before where the pegbox walls needed to be extended.

Video of the Letterbox Restoration
Thank you Evie Troy of Troy Productions UK for putting together this photo and video sequence of the cello “letterbox” restoration I did a few months ago.
I do like a challenge but have never had to deal with a hole in a front as big as this – a big learning curve for me!
Crack Repair Course
Interested in how I approach different kind of crack repairs? The cleaning and gluing, filling of gaps if necessary, creating the right texture over the cracks and the retouching?
In my online course on Crack Repair which was launched towards the end of last year, I cover different scenarios of cracks and show the process from A to Z.

An Emotional Treat
An emotional treat for my husband Tony and I at this local Charity Concert by the fabulous Kingfisher Strings this afternoon when both our violins were played by Beth and Yan-Yi. I only finished my violin 2 days ago and wasn’t expecting it to be played!
Thank you so much to the Kingfisher Strings for giving up their time to treat us with such a beautiful concert.
It reminds me of what our work is really all about: enabling talented musicians to create beautiful music! Thank you! 🙏
This violin was made years ago based on the Nicolo Amati model, the “Alard”, and I finally decided to re-varnish it and do a bit of antiquing.
