Getting sweat out of the top edges and button area

The top edges of a violin where players rest their hands often get so worn and stained with sweat, they are hard to clean.

One trick is to ease the sweat out of the wood with a hairdryer. Very effective but you have to be very careful not to damage any of the surrounding varnish with the heat.
