The player of this fairly new violin has got into the habit of holding the instrument by the upper bout which has resulted in the complete loss of varnish in that area on the back and the front and the wood was starting to get stained too.
I am usually tempted to make my retouch too even in colour like on the first photo in the middle and therefore had to go back with my brush with just a bit of alcohol on it to remove some of my retouch again. It now matches much better with what is happening in the other bouts.
