Woodworm Defeated!

After my first EILA conference in Madrid last week which was really enjoyable, I’m back at the bench coming to the end of another major challenge.

Plenty of woodworm tracks in the upper bout of this beautiful slab-cut back needed dealing with. I mainly used original shavings as the area needed a patch anyway and a button graft including replacing of the edges either side.

  1. Can a top plate edge @ the lower bout, which as been shredded to the purfling, be repaired? Also another area where the chinrest cork pulled the wood edge away from the purfling? It’s not a grand fiddle, but it was my Grandfather’s, and it’s time for me to pass it on to a nephew. Could I have a rough estimate of cost?
